He was a Jacobite, but he also spied for the King against the Jacobites. He acknowledged his son Brian (his mother was a Castle Downie maid), but Brian was a bastard. Simon Fraser did not approve of Brian's marriage to Ellen MacKenzie, and never spoke to his son or grandchildren by Brian again, until Jamie visited him to enlist his men to fight with Prince Charles before Culloden. Lord Lovat had false teeth made of beachwood. Jamie tossed them into the fire when Lovat threatened him to swear an oath.
