Name: Dougal MacKenzie
Born: 1694
Died: April 16, 1746 at Culloden Moor (just before the big battle)
Home: Beannachd (means Blessed in Gaelic)
Parents: Jacob MacKenzie and Anne Grant
Siblings: Ellen (b. 1691, m. 1717, d. 1729), Colum (b. 1693, d. 1745), Janet (b. 1797, d. 1721), Flora (b. 1700, d. 1700), and Jocasta (b. 1702)

Children: 4 daughters: Molly, Tabitha (Tibby), Margaret, and Eleanor (he also fathered both Colum's son Hamish and Geillis's son William Buccleigh MacKenzie illegitimately)

Dougal was War Chief of the Clan MacKenzie and brother to Colum MacKenzie, who was the Laird. He was Jamie Fraser's uncle. Jamie fostered with Dougal and his wife at Beannachd when he was 14. Dougal's oldest daughter Molly was beautiful but mean to Jamie. Her younger sister Tibby was nicer and gave Jamie his first kiss.

It was Dougal's idea that Claire and Jamie get married, presumably to keep Claire out of Black Jack's hands, but he had other motives for the union.
